Just got back from London Metropolitan University for a seminar given by the Society of Dyers and Colourists about the world of colours.
One speaker definitely caught my attention with her approach on colour psychology. I would definitely recommend you to have a look at Angela Wright work and her website http://www.colour-affects.co.uk. Her section on the 4 type of personality identified by colours is particularly interesting. Go ahead and try to work which one is your colour!
Personality 1 – Morning light
Personality 2 – Dream light
Personality 3 – Fire light
Personality 4 – Star light
Marco Glaviano bests supermodels shots are covering the walls of the gallery showing the tops of the 90s with their superb curves and attitudes. That’s an exhibition where even your man will understand art!
The Textile Futures Research Centre put a series of seminars to celebrate a green week across the UAL universities.
I attended one of these talks at Central St-Martin on the Perspectives on future sustainable design. It all started with a positive introduction from Dr. Jonathan Chapman followed by Becky Earley presentation of TED the Textile Environment Design and their 10 topics to bring sustainability in your company. Carole Collet, course director of the Textile Future MA course at CSM followed by an outstanding presentation on the new comer in the design arena “BioDesign” which merge skills from different fields to think something even more efficient, ecstatically challenging and something that tackle sustainable issues.
Her work was particularly special for me as I am also researching on the use of microorganisms best assets to be incorporated in the textile industry. If you are interested in some great example of theoretical biodesign work I would recommend you to have a look at her website:
The following 3 presentations were practical based PHD students all looking at the future of textile in an eco-friendly environment. Which made me wonder if its something I would like to take my project on next oh noooo!!! haha
Soon to arrive in London Business Design Center is the Surface Design Show 2012 who will regroup a vast range of raw and finish materials to be used mostly in an interior design context. I believe it to be of great interest for textile designers as it will also showcase new use of textiles and technologies surrounding the textile industry. It is free to register which is always a great news otherwise it’s £15 at the door and will be held on the 7 till the 9th of Feb 2012.
Hopefully I will be able to post a few photos after my visit!
The Society of Dyers & Colourists are soon hosting an event entitled World of Colour regrouping world leading speakers such as:
